Who I am

I’m Jorge Sotomayor, founder of Pipe Dream Solutions. I’m a proud US military veteran, and I carried the values of service, dedication and resilience into a new chapter of my career.

After my service I started as a plumbing apprentice. I learned the trade from the ground up, working with the people who actually install the pipe. Today I run Pipe Dream Solutions from New York City, doing BIM and MEP modeling for whole buildings: plumbing, HVAC and mechanical piping, ductwork, electrical and fire protection.

Why a plumber builds better models

A model can look perfect on screen and still be impossible to install. I learned in the trade what a crew needs from a drawing: room for the hanger, the clearance and the access.

My mission is to combine practical field knowledge with advanced digital tools to deliver solutions that are accurate, efficient and built on a foundation of integrity and hard work. Revit and Navisworks do the heavy lifting. Field experience decides whether the result makes sense.

That is what I want every client to get: drawings that are accurate, a process that is efficient, and a partner who does what he says. Integrity and hard work are not slogans for me. They are how I learned to do the job.

We work with general contractors and MEP trade contractors. Our team includes BIM managers, and every model is checked by someone who knows what it takes to install it.
