COORDINATION

MEP Coordination and Clash Detection

We run the clashes in Navisworks and lead the meetings until every ceiling fits. MEP coordination and clash detection from people who know what a crowded shaft looks like in the field.

Solve it on screen, not with a saw

MEP coordination and clash detection is how a crowded building gets built without rip-out. We combine the plumbing, HVAC, ductwork, electrical and fire protection models, run the clashes in Navisworks, and drive each conflict to a decision.

We can lead coordination for a general contractor, or model and coordinate one trade for a subcontractor. Either way the goal is the same: coordinated drawings every trade agrees on before install.

BIM coordination lead: we carry the load

Many GCs hand us the whole coordination effort. We run the process, chase the trades, keep the models current and deliver the final coordinated product. The GC’s team stays focused on the job instead of the model, and the submissions stay ahead of the field.

How a clash run works

  • We federate the trade models with architecture and structure in Navisworks
  • We run the clashes and sort real conflicts from noise
  • We bring the open items to the coordination meeting with a proposed fix
  • We update the models after each meeting and rerun

Clash reports go to every trade with a name against each open item.

Coordination meetings that finish things

Weekly meetings are where coordination succeeds or stalls. We prepare the views, push for decisions in the room, and send minutes that say who owns each open item and what they owe. Nothing sits in a gray area.

Because our team has worked in the field, the proposed fixes are ones a crew can install. We think about access, hangers, insulation and service clearance, not only whether two boxes touch.

Sign-off

The job is not done when the clash count drops. It is done when each trade has agreed their space and the model is ready to release. We track every open item to closure and document the sign-off, so the shop drawings that follow are built on settled routing.

This is the same model that supports MEP BIM modeling, shop drawings and quantity lists, so nothing is redrawn.

Deliverables

  • Navisworks files (NWC/NWD)
  • Clash reports and meeting minutes as PDF
  • Updated Revit models (RVT) after each round
  • Marked-up views and DWG or PDF backgrounds for the field

We serve New York City, Long Island and New Jersey, and run meetings remotely for projects elsewhere in the US.

Questions

Which software do you use for clash detection?

Navisworks for clash runs and coordination, with Autodesk Revit for the models.

Can you lead coordination for the general contractor?

Yes. We can lead MEP coordination for a GC, or coordinate a single trade for a subcontractor.

Do you run coordination meetings?

Yes. We prepare the views, lead the discussion, and send minutes that assign each open item.

What do we get after a clash run?

Clash reports, updated models after each meeting, and files you can open in Navisworks.
